Jaime Siles Ruiz

Doctor en Filología Clásica por la Universidad de Salamanca y Doctor honoris causa por la Universidad de Clermont-Ferrand. Ha sido profesor en las Universidades de Salamanca, Alcalá de Henares, La Laguna, Viena Graz, Salzburg, Madison-Wisconsin, Bérgamo, Berna, St. Gallen, Turín, Ginebra, Clermont-Ferrand, Orléans, Marne-La Vallée y de l’École Normale Supérieure. Actualmente es Catedrático de Filología Latina de la Universidad de Valencia. Entre otros, ha obtenido los siguientes premios: Ocnos (1973); de la Crítica del País Valenciano y de la Crítica Nacional (1983); Internacional Loewe de Poesía (1989); Internacional Generación del 27 (1998) e Internacional de Poesía Jaime Gil de Biedma (2018), así como Teresa de Ávila (2003); de las Letras Valencianas (2004) y Andrés Bello (2017) por el conjunto de su obra. Jaime Siles was born in Valencia, 1951. Awarded a PhD in Classical Philology by the University of Salamanca and Doctor honoris causa by University Clermont-Ferrand. He has lectured at the Universities of Salamanca, Alcalá de Henares, La Laguna, Viena Graz, Salzburg, Madison-Wisconsin, Bergamo, Berne, St. Gallen, Turin, Geneva, Clermont-Ferrand, Orléans, Marne-La Vallée and L’École Normale Supérieure. Currently, he is Professor of Latin Philology at the University of Valencia. He has received, among others, the following awards: Ocnos (1973); País Valenciano Critic’s Award and the National Critic’s Award (1983); International Loewe Poetry Award (1989); Generación del 27 International Award (1998) and Jaime Gil de Biedma International Poetry Award (2018); as well as the Teresa de Ávila Award (2003); the Valencian Arts Award (2004); and the Andrés Bello Award (2017) for lifetime achievement.
